Exercise Variability: The Importance of Rhythm for Athletes

#TMPtipoftheday:

rhythm, tempo, timing for athletes

I get the same question over and over again – “what types of variables can I use to create smarter training sessions?”

Remember last time I told you to try it with your eyes closed! Well, this time I want you to try timing your favorite exercise to a beat!

You can use a metronome or even music!

It’s very engaging for people.

I have clients who love utilizing music in their workout.

Rhythm is the magic ingredient to fitness and sport performance.

Have you ever compared good athletes to great athletes?

Ever wonder what the difference is?

It’s almost always rhythm.

The ability to dance with the game. Or, dance with the opponent.

Guess what the curse of athletic performance is?

Predictability!

If you only train at one speed and tempo all the time, you create predictability and limit your movement options.

By using rhythm challenges you can create super fun and engaging sessions that develop more creative athletes.

The creative athlete is one that can flow and adjust to anything.

At TMP, we assess every athletes rhythm. It’s the little things that separate good from great.

Check out this video of Taylor using the beat and rhythm of music to train mobility, speed, and motor control!
